Firodia made autorickshaw a reality in India

The common man's mode of transportation, autorickshaw, became a reality in India only due to the efforts of Navalmal Kundanmal Firodia, said Union Minister of Agriculture Sharad Pawar.

He was addressing a gathering at a function to mark the centenary year of Firodia in Pune on Friday. Pawar's daughter and member of Parliament Supriya Sule was also present on the occasion.

As part of the centenary year celebrations, the Deccan Education Society's Law College was named DES Navalmal Firodia Law College. The newly built auditorium of the College of Nursing and College of Physiotherapy were also named after Navalmal Kundanmal Firodia, also located on the DES campus. He was a student of the college from 1903 to 1907.

Earlier in the year, a cancer hospital was started in Solapur-Barshi by the Firodia group followed by a super-specialty hospital in Pune.
