Britain keen to invest in Orissa


BHUBANESWAR: Britain is keen to invest in Orissa’s social and mining sectors in joint collaboration with State Government agencies. The British government and private investors from the UK were keen to invest in the State’s mining and social sectors like health and education, said Chief Secretary Bijay Kumar Patnaik.
The Chief Secretary was present at a meeting between a UK delegation led by British High Commissioner Richard Stagg,� comprising senior members of the DFID, and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik here on Wednesday. Stating that the Government handed over a proposal to the British team, Patnaik said DFID could help Orissa in different ways,
particularly in the social sector.� “A large team of the British government is likely to visit for detailed talks on development issues. We hope, the team will visit within a month,” the Chief Secretary said.� “We have apprised the Chief Minister of� the development taking� place in the state of Orissa. We have shared a range of ideas during the meeting,” Stagg told reporters after the meeting.
