UGC seeks Varsities help for survey

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has prompted its member universities to provide information about their teaching departments, to coordinate and facilitate collecting and collating data on their constituent colleges.Primarily, it makes the task easier for the All India Survey on Higher Education to be conducted by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD). In a letter dated June 20, the UGC has stated, "Universities would be of great help in providing information about their teaching departments... In view of the above, you are requested to identify and nominate a Nodal Officer who will be the main person for coordinating and collection of data on the university and its colleges, if any, for the purpose of the survey. The Nodal Officer may be from any of the departments, preferably Statistics, Mathematics or Management."With growing size and diversity of the higher education sector, especially in terms of courses, management and geographical coverage, the MHRD has constituted a task force, under the Chairmanship of Additional Secretary, Higher Education, Sunil Kumar. The National University of Education, Planning and Administration, New Delhi, will conduct the survey during JuneJuly this year.
