IIM Kozhikode decides to roll back tuition fees

IIM Kozhikode has decided to roll back tuition fees for its flagship postgraduate programme (PGP) by Rs 30,000 to protect students from the inflationary pressures in the economy. "During the last two years student loan rates have increased between two to four per cent per-annum putting additional burden on students. The marginal reduction of Rs 30,000 (3% of the fee) will be implemented from the year 2012-13 onwards as a proactive step to support higher education," said Debashis Chatterjee, director, IIM Kozhikode. The institute also announced new scholarships for students. 

LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE SOIL (School of Inspired Leadership), a unit of Grow Talent Co Ltd, hosted the annual Inspired Leadership Conference on November 4 and 5. The third edition of the conference was woven around the theme - 'Importance of Inspired Leadership at the workplace,' highlighting the views of industry stalwarts. The two-day long conference witnessed the presence of eminent panellists including S Ramnarayan, clinical professor of business; member, management council, Centre for Leadership, Innovation, and Change (CLIC) among others. Gurcharan Das, distinguished Indian author and columnist delivered the keynote address at the conference. 

HIGHER EDUCATION ITM University, Gurgaon, hosted a delegation of the United States-India Educational Foundation (USIEF) on November 4. As part of the delegation, representatives from 28 US universities addressed the students of ITM University, the topic of discussion was 'Scope for Higher Education in the US.' ITM University provided the representatives of the US universities a forum to directly interact with the students in view of the fact that there is a significant contingent of students interested in US higher education . The session concluded with all representatives of the US universities introducing their university programmes and encouraging students to be a part of the USIEF-IIE fair. 

NATIONAL CHAMPION Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Mumbai, won the grand finale of the fifth edition of the Sweden-India Nobel Memorial Quiz 2011 held at IIT Delhi, beating the finalists from Bengaluru, New Delhi, Chennai and Pune to become title holders and claim the weeklong trip to Sweden. The team of three, comprising Aviral Bhatnagar, Pranav Shetty and Abhishek Padmanabhan won the grand finale. Before the grand finale, colleges and technical institutes from Del hi and NCR competed for the last qualifying round. Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani Jaipur won the Delhi qualifying round. Another Swedish online quiz competition 'Challenge Yourself India' is open to Indian engineering students. EDUCATION FAIR Global Education Interact (GEI), an education fair organised by the Chopras will witness 50 universities from six countries.
