CM Naveen Patnaik orders use of ‘Odisha’ on all signboards by March

Bhubaneswar: With the name of the state officially changing from Orissa into Odisha along with the correction of the spelling, chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday directed the authorities of all the departments to replace their signboards and other hoardings with correct spelling of the state by March 2012.
Besides, Patnaik also asked the chief secretary to ensure the correction in the name of the state from the government portal as well as from the websites of various departments and public sector undertakings within one month.
He said that official signboards displaying the names of the state in the office of the Residential Commissioner in New Delhi and the state-run Bhawans in New Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkota should be corrected by March 2012.
However, he advised the authorities to use the existing stationeries- office pad and file covers- by correcting the state’s name manually without destroying them till the stocks are exhausted. He also directed the two education departments to print the corrected name of the state in the textbooks in their next editions.
Meanwhile, State Assembly Speaker Pradip Kumar Amat also asked its Secretariat to take steps to change the name of the state in official files, pads, website and signboards before the ensuing winter session of the State Assembly.
