Delhi headquartered DMC Education Limited announced the acquisition of a leading Kolkata based education management consultants called Plansteps for a total consideration of INR 45 million. The acquisition of Plansteps by DMC Education is by far the biggest acquisition in the field of education consulting in India.
DMC’s decision to acquire Plansteps is primarily aimed at taking Career Counseling pan India which the acquired company offers and specializes for. Immediately after acquisition the DMC will have a ready network of offices of Plansteps in the seven sister states of India as well as Nepal, Bhutan covering the entire eastern part of India.
"DMC’s has been a leader in supplementary education offering its services across India and this acquisition will further provide and edge to us," said Mr. Anuj Ahuja, CEO of DMC Education Ltd. Anuj added that Plansteps model of education will provide and added support to our existing network providing essential element by way of career counseling to all the students seeking professional education.
"We have been in this field for more than 14 years now and since our focus were more towards management education, hiving off this business was the only option for us to move forward," said Soumen Acharya, head Placx dnsteps. We were in talks with a few educational companies towards acquiring our business but finally zeroed into DMC Education Limited since our model of operations were similar.
After the acquisition, the company has set a road map of expansion and plans take the counseling services pan India. It is eyeing to open more than 100 centers in next 3-5 years which would offer career guidance to the applicants.
